VITAMIN

Vitamin have burst into the indie music scene quite recently supporting the likes of Swim Deep, Rat boy and most recently Sundara Karma. The four piece Jared, Theo, Cameron and Harrison, derived from Leeds, have truly established themselves both live and in studio after getting such privileged (but deserved) support places with well such established and praised artists as well as releasing quite an array of singles on both Spotify and SoundCloud.
After seeing this band in a variety of cities, I know that they can bring good vibes into any venue. Their melodic tunes echo through any size room and get any size crowd moving. They are destined to headline, and headline big venues.

One of the EPs, ‘To Believe’, explores sparkling modulation, dreamy like reverb and rhythmic melodies, all whilst keeping within that groovy 80s vibe. But, of course we have to mention Jared's distinct, silvery vocals cutting right through the layers of effects right into the centre of the tracks. I am almost certain that their material, made to fill dancefloors, will soon be indie anthems; all they now need is recognition.

SPARES

Liverpool garage/proto punk band SPARES have recently hit the scene with their first thundering single ‘I Like It’. The four piece only formed earlier this year and are already showing great promise as the UK’s possible response to American West Coast punks FIDLAR and Wavves, sharing sonic similarities and a forever upbeat, fast tempo. The new single features songs ‘I Like It’ and ‘Not Enough’, which bring a new side to Liverpool’s distinct (Beatles) sound.
The A side, ‘I Like It’ brings in chunky, Cocaine-esque riffs from the offset over fast, clashing drums and thick, overdriven rhythm guitar. As for vocals – you can really see my comparison to FIDLAR. Floating above the instruments, the vocals are higher pitched and wailing, a deep, stabbing and well placed vocals. The track maintains a fast pace all the way through and plenty of opportunities for circle pits at their gigs for years to come. A truly earth-shattering song.
The B side, ‘Not Enough’, takes heavy advantage of drums and has a strong beat all the way through, rising and falling with the guitars. Again, the vocals contrast very well with cries of the namesake “You know I’m not enough!” to bring the song and the single to an epic, explosive end.

I would definitely recommend this band and I look forward to releases in the future – definitely one to keep an eye on and check out.
